Who Watches the Watchmen?

I just read Watchmen in anticipation of the new movie next year. I know.......for me to be such a comic fanatic you are amazed I hadn't read it yet. Anyway, I liked it and I think from the trailers I have seen it will be a pretty good film. I only have one complaint. Why did Rorschach have to die? He was the coolest character in the whole book. Everyone else was pretending to be something they weren't......superheroes. None of the characters in Watchmen were really "good guys." But Rorschach didn't try to hide it. He let it be known if you commit a crime you might just pay with your life. This doesn't make me want to see the movie any less, but it still sucked that he had to die.
