Steve "Air" McNair

I'm a little late with this one but I have to post this. As many of you already know Steve McNair announced his retirement on April 17, 2008 after 13 seasons in the NFL. I'm not a Ravens fan but I am a Titans fan as anyone who reads my blog will know. I have always liked McNair even after he bacame a Raven. McNair will always be known as one of footballs great "Ironmen". From 1997-2003 he only missed 9 out of 112 regular season starts and never missed a post season start. He won the Walter Payton Award in 1994 and is a 3 time Pro-Bowl selection. He was also named Co-MVP, with Peyton Manning (BOOO), in 2003. Some of his stats include: 31,304 passing yards, 174 TDs, 3,590 rushing yards, 37 rushing TDs, and an overall QB rating of 82.8. Steve McNair was a great player and will be missed. Wooooooooo!

I must say that when I watched Raw last night I had a lump in my throat and a tear in my eye. Ric Flair gave his farewell address to his millions of fans. Some of those fans, as in the other WWE wrestlers, came to show their appreciation as the entire WWE roster was on hand. A very emotional Flair was also joined by his family. It's the least that could be done for the greatest wrestler to lace up a pair of boots. In his 36 year career a win lose record is unfathomable to try to estimate but here are a few of his accomplishments:

NWA/WCW United States Champion - 5 times

NWA/WCW Tag Team Champion - 3 times

WWF/E Intercontinental Champion - 1 time

WWF/E Tag Team Champion - 3 times

1992 Royal Rumble Winner

The first active wrestler inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame

NWA/WCW/WWF/E World Heavyweight Champion - 16 times

These are some inpressive stats. He will be missed by many in the wrestling world, but I expect he will show up from time to time. Ric was criticized by many (including me) for staying in the business way past his prime, but I must admit, there will be a giant hole in the wrestling world that can never be filled again.
