I don't normally like to get too serious on my blog unless I'm ranting. But, here I sit with tears in my eyes as I type this. September the 11th is tomorrow. Each year I have tried to keep the memory of what happened on that day in 2001. I'm sure anyone who can read this can remember that day. I want to give you my account of that day and share some images with you.
I was working in a factory on second shift at the time of the terrorist attacks. When the first plane hit the World Trade Center I was asleep. My wife called me from work, woke me up, and told me to turn on the news. At first I thought as many thought, this was a simple but tragic accident. As I kept watching I heard of the "possible" plane hitting The Pentagon. Then I watched in horror as a plane struck the second tower. It was apparent that this was an attack. then there was the news of United 93 crashing. I cried, I shouted, and I questioned "why?". I asked that question many times over the next few weeks. I even questioned my faith. I kept thinking to myself, "How could God have let this happen?" But, it wasn't God's doing. God gave every being on earth free will. Those terrorist were evil men with evil intentions that had NO understanding of God.
After the attacks there were many tributes. Some sang, some wrote, some made movies, but I want to focus on the comic book industry tributes. I have a few images to show you that serve as tributes to that day.
Alex Ross did this cover. The world's most powerful hero in awe of the men and women who were the true heroes on September 11th.
The rest of the images will come from Amazing Spiderman #36

After the events of September 11th Marvel Comics stopped the presses and decided to publish an entire issue surrounding the events of that day. They picked their icon, Spider-Man, to be the one that we will follow in story on that day.

Spider-Man is expressing what most of us were feeling on that day.

I can remember the real pictures of the rubble on that day. I look at Spider-Man's posture as he looks up at the rubble and I can literally feel what he feels.

As I look at this one it makes me wish that there were people with super powers to help on that day. But this image really represents a spirit of teamwork. If anything good came out of this tragedy, (not that I'm saying this was a good thing) it was the way our country united after it.
The following comic image still moves me more than any other.

Even the villians united to help, but take a closer look at Dr. Doom's eyes.

I get all choked up every time I see this. I believe it speaks for itself.
However you do it, please take a few moments tomorrow to remember and mourn the tragedy that happened seven years ago. It is our duty as Americans. I'm The Eyeball and That's What I See.
