Comic Character Movies

There are a lot of comic book characters headlining movies these days. There will also be more headlining in the following years to come. A lot of these I can’t wait for. Captain America, Thor, The Avengers, Spider-Man 4, also the possible JLA movie and Superman reboot. Here’s the thing, not all movies based upon popular comic book characters were that good. So, I have decided to give you my opinion on the ten best and worst comic book character movies of all time. Please remember I am not an expert, these are simply my opinion. I do welcome comments and your opinions on what you think. Well here goes:

The Top Ten Best Comic Character Movies

10. The Incredible Hulk

The new reboot of The Incredible hulk was a great movie. The way they were able tie the comic and the old t.v. show together was awesome. Also, the tie in with Iron Man was good as well. Edward Norton played Bruce Banner well, I hope he returns for sequels and the Avengers movie.

9. Ghost Rider

Despite the slightly “over the top” acting, this was a pretty good movie. The effects were well done and the plot was fairly well written. I enjoyed this one.

8. The Shadow

Although The Shadow isn’t one of the more popular characters but this movie was good. This movie had “over the top” acting as well, but it fit this movie. It was needed to stay true to the original time period.

7. Daredevil

This was probably Ben Affleck greatest role. I liked the way they showed how Daredevil’s powers worked. I also liked Colin Ferrell as Bullseye, he played the part well.

6. The Punisher

I don’t know how good War Zone will be, but it will have a tough mountain to climb to beat this one. Thomas Jane played a very good, very accurate Frank Castle.

5. Spider-Man

This was the movie that I believe rebooted the whole superhero movie business. It was well made, well written, and well cast. When I heard that the fourth movie was now in the works I got really excited.

4. X-Men 2: X-Men United

This is one sequel that clearly surpassed its predecessor. Between Colossus’s first power up to Wolverine’s berserker rage this was an excellent movie.

3. Batman Begins

This reboot of the Batman franchise was missing nothing. Great plot, great action, great acting, and great casting. Christian was the perfect Batman.

2. Iron Man

When I heard Robert Downey was playing Iron Man I was skeptical. But when I saw the movie I was blown away. The effects were great and so was the acting. The little hidden scene after the credits with Nick Fury was a great bonus to this already great movie.

1. The Dark Knight

Another sequel that surpassed its previous film. Bale was able to capture the true essence of Batman in this one. Heath Ledger stole the show as the Joker. He played the best psychopathic maniac I have ever seen.

The Top Ten Worst Comic Character Movies

10. Hulk

Ang Lee’s Hulk had pretty good visual effects but the acting (with the exception of Sam Elliot) was very lackluster. There wasn’t enough Hulk in it and unlike it’s reboot when the Hulk wasn’t on screen it wasn’t very exciting.

9. Batman Forever

Val Kilmer played Batman fairly well and Chris O’Donnell played Robin well, although they made him too old. It was Jim Carrey’s and Tommy Lee Jones’ “waaaaaay over the top” acting that made this one stink. They were supposed to be playing Riddler and Two-Face respectively, but they both acted as if they were trying to be the Joker.

8. The Punisher

This would have been a decent action movie if they would have called it something else. Dolph Lungren isn’t the best actor in the world, and where was the skull on his shirt? The only people punished here are the ones who paid to see it.

7. Superman 2

It’s hard for me to talk about this one because of my respect for the late Christopher Reeve. I believe it’s not his fault anyway. It was just written poorly. The idea of three exiled Kryptonian outlaws coming to fight Superman was good but where did these extra powers come from? Zod had telekinesis? Superman can make holograms of himself and can throw his insignia to make a trap? And the worst was when Superman killed. Superman does not kill.

6. Captain America

Between the Italian Red Skull without a red skull and Cap’s rubber suit this movie lacked a lot. I hope the new one is much, much better.

5. Superman Returns

The costume was wrong and Superman had a child out of wedlock……very un-Superman like.

4. Catwoman

If your going to make a movie about an established character you should have it involve that characters storyline. That’s all I’m saying.

3. Howard The Duck

It sucked. Between Howard’s knowledge of “Quack-Fu” and Lea
Thompson’s bestiality type kiss, this movie was just terrible.

2. Steel

Shaq can’t act. Nuff said.

1. Batman and Robin

There are so many things wrong with this movie I don’t know where to begin. George Clooney may be a good actor but he can’t play Batman, or Bruce Wayne for that matter. Poison Ivy calls herself mother earth? The Batman Forever credit card? Arnold as Mr. Freeze? I could keep going but you get the idea.

There it is. You may agree, you may disagree. Leave a comment if you wish, I will be happy to receive them either way. I’m The Eyeball and That’s What I See.

My Opinion, My Choice, My Vote

Well, it's election day. I did something I have never done.....early voted. My vote has been cast. I think everyone that is eligible should vote.

Now that the public service message is over, here comes the rant. I will not tell here who I voted for, for reasons I will name later. But, when I do tell people who I voted for it's apparently the wrong person. I didn't think an opinion could be wrong.

If I hate the taste of brussell sprouts and you don't, does that make either of us right or wrong? No, it doesn't. It is an opinion, not right or wrong. When I vote I look at the candidates, see where they stand on key issues and form an opinion. I then vote based on that opinion.

I won't mention my vote here because I don't want hundreds of hate comments. I'm tired of being told my opinion is wrong by these {EXPLETIVE} people.

DON'T TELL ME I'M WRONG! If I don't vote the way you do then we have a difference of opinion, neither of us is wrong. From this point forward I will tell no one who I have or will vote for. Whether the person I vote for is elected or not, it's not the wrong choice.

The only wrong choice is to not vote at all. I'm The Eyeball and That's What I See!
