Remember The Titans

Anyone who knows me, knows I am a Tennessee Titans fan. I remember the good days of Music City Miracles and Super Bowl appearances. Those days seem to be out of sight. I know that it is a part of any franchise to lose star players and to try to rebuild. In the 13-10 loss to the Dolphins the "new" Titans looked alot better. Travis Henry ran the ball well, and the defense was pretty good too. My beef is with Kerry Collins. This guy overthrows his reciever 80% of the time. This let to two interceptions in that game. The Titans have good recievers if you can throw to them. I guess my real beef is with Jeff Fisher. They drafted Vince Young and signed him to a big contract just to warm the bench. This guy was amazing in college, why don't they start him now? I realize he is a rookie and needs guidance. Fisher should let Young play and let Collins "guide" him from the sideline. It couldn't be any worse than it is right now. I'm The Eyeball, and that's what I see.

DC vs Marvel 2

Once again I will post something I'd like to see instead of something I do see. This time I'd like to see another DC vs Marvel. The first one was okay...but, the match-ups were a little lame. Superman vs Hulk, Flash vs Quicksilver? These are no brainers. Also, I don't really agree with letting the fans vote on the outcomes. Wolverine beating Lobo was a farce. Don't get me wrong, I love Wolverine but, in my opinion, he wouldn't stand a chance against Lobo. The fans tend to vote on who is more popular. I'm just as guilty as anyone. This time I think the match-ups could traverse time. The only constant thing in comics is, there is no constant. Time shifts and temporal disturbances happen often. I have put alot of research and thinking into this. I'm sorry to say a few of my matches will be lame but not all of them can be main events. The premise of this contest will be the same as before, their entire universe is at stake. The combatants will have no prior knowledge of each other before they meet. Well, here goes:

Captain Marvel vs Captain Marvel

Well, it looks as though Captain Marvel will win. For the sake of confusion I will call DC's Captain Marvel Shazam. This is one of the lame ones. I only pitted them against one another because of the name similiarity. In my opinion this one would be over quickly. Shazam would fly in fast and pummel Marvel and maybe hit him with a mystic lightning bolt or two.

Winner: Captain Marvel (DC)

Dr. Fate vs Dr. Strange

This contest will have more spells, hexes, and mystic bolts than you can shake a magic wand at. This is a pretty even match-up. Both have an extensive knowledge of the mystic arts. Although I beleive Dr. Strange may have a bit more. After all the hexes and spells are done only one will be standing.

Winner: Dr. Strange

Green Arrow vs Hawkeye

An archery contest? No, this will be a straight up fight. Anyone that read JLA/Avengers will know that these two do not get along. First, both men will try to use trick arrows to beat one another. Net arrows, boxing glove arrows, rope arrows, and the like. As the other is able to shoot down their opponents arrows the enivitable will happen, they will both run out of arrows. This will come down to a hand to hand combat situation. In that, I think the cantankerous Oliver Queen would have the advantage.

Winner: Green Arrow

Steel vs Iron Man

Oops, another lame one. Well, I gave DC a lame win, now it's Marvels turn. Iron Man's suit has more weapons, gadgets, surprises, and over all more power. Steel doesn't stand a chance.

Winner: Iron Man

Are you keeping score? DC:2 / Marvel:2

Lobo vs Venom

This will be another straight up fight. Just the attitudes of the two individuals involved would make for a good contest, not to mention their powers. Both competitors would come out swinging with Lobo gaining an early advantage with his power. Venom would then try to web up his opponent and then move in beat and claw on him. He would do alot of damage, but in the end I believe that "The Main Man's" power would allow him to break free of the webbing before Venom could gain a real advantage. He would heal himself and finish the beating he started.

Winner: Lobo

Lex Luthor(Battlesuit) vs Dr. Doom

Who says only heroes can fight for their universe? The villians will be just as aggressive, if not more, in the fight to save their hides. That being said, these two megalomaniacs would square off in a fierce battle. While in his battlesuit, Luthor has power that almost rivals Supermans. Dr. Dooms armor has hidden surprises and gadgets that give him great power. Luthor would go for the kill early and try to overpower Doom. However Doom is accustom to battling four people at the same time, one of which has a great deal of power himself. Don't get me wrong, I assume that Luthor's battlesuit has much more power than Thing. He was able to hold his own against Superman for a while. But Doom has been known to best the entire Fantastic Four on occasion. It would be close, and both men would be worse for wear but I have to give it to Doom.

Winner: Dr. Doom

Deathstroke vs Deadpool

Slade and Wade Wilson, the brothers from different universes. All kidding aside, these two are so similar it was hard to decide a victor. This fight would start out with them shooting at each other, healing themselves as they go. When the ammo ran dry they would pull out the swords and have at it. This would not be a quick one. With both men having the ability to heal themselves it would take a while for one to really damage the other. In the end it will be Deathstroke's superior intellect that will allow him to cunningly get the better of his opponent.

Winner: Deathstroke

Bizarro vs Thing

This will be a real "slobberknocker" as WWE announcer Jim Ross would say. Bizarro would fly in and hit Thing hard, but Ben Grimm gives as good as he gets. Bizarro being an imperfect clone of Superman would give him the power advantage, but Thing's resolve and intellect (yes, I said intellect) would decide this outcome.

Winner: Thing

Still tied up. DC:4 / Marvel:4

Doomsday vs Hulk(savage)

Lock the door and hide the kids, it's time to wage war! I hope this one takes place in an un-populated area. Because, whoever wins we lose. This was another tough one to decide. Everytime Doomsday is defeated, he comes back stronger. The Hulk gets stronger as he gets angrier. these two would stand toe to toe trading punches, with a force so great that it would shatter windows miles away. I believe that Hulk would be the stronger of the two, but Hulk doesn't have bony spikes sticking out of his skin. Also, Doomsday has done something that I don't think Hulk could ever do...kill Superman. It pains me to say this, because I'm a tremendous Hulk fan.

Winner: Doomsday

Nightwing vs Spiderman

Another lame one? No, Nightwing would would provide quite the challenge for Web-head. Nightwing was trained by the best and is a very intelligent man. He would use the shadows to keep himself out of sight. He would pounce and land a few shots on Spidey, maybe even get a rope on him to tie him up a moment. But alas, it would be Spiderman's super powers that would prevail. Although, it would take him a while to beat Batman's former sidekick.

Winner: Spiderman

Superman vs Thor

This would have to be one of the main events. The Last Son of Krypton and the God of Thunder, my skin just tingled. We got a glimse of this one in JLA/Avengers. This fight would not produce all the property damage of Doomsday/Hulk, but it would provide some. Since one of Superman's biggest weaknessess is magic, Thor's mystic hammer would be able to knock the Kryptonian for a loop. Not to mention, Thor's vast strength, but I don't think he is quite as strong as Kal-el. In the end it would be all of Superman's powers (and it would take them all) that would prevail. He'll be just a little to strong and a little to fast for Thor.

Winner: Superman

Wonder Woman vs Rogue(classic)

Did you think I forgot about the ladies? This would be a pretty good match-up. The two of them would slug it out until Wonder Woman's strength would prove to much for Rogue. Then the gloves would come off. Wonder Woman's only true weakness in this fight is too much exposed skin.

Winner: Rogue

Batman vs Captain America

This is another main event. This was the only fight I kept from the original DC vs Marvel. The original outcome had Batman winning when a sewer geyser spewed and surprised Captain America. Let's just say the sewer geyser left a bad taste in my mouth. I wanted a rematch, no sewer geysers or other outside interference. Batman's first objective would be to separate Cap from his sheild. This is no easy task but if anyone could do it Batman could. After the sheild is out of play, a martial arts epic would ensue, with neither man gaining a clear advantage. Batman would be forced to reach into his utility belt and pull out some kind of gas pellet to gain the advantage. Fighting dirty? Yes, but it gets the job done.

Winner: Batman

Darkseid vs Thanos

Although this fight was not listed in the first DC vs Marvel, it almost happened. The heroes from both universes banded together to stop it. I say, let them fight. Despite the power of the combatants this would start as a slow methodical contest. Both men being master stategists would try to out think their opponent. After that Omega Beams and Cosmic Rays would fly. I'll have to admit, the only thing I knew about Thanos before this was he once had the Infinity Gauntlet. As I started reading up on him I was impressed. I never thought I would see the being that could simply overpower Darkseid (except Superman) until now.

Winner: Thanos

Well, there it is. We've ended in a 7-7 tie. How did you think it was going to end? Did you actually think this battle could end with one universe destroying the other? Get real. Also remember what I said earlier. The only constant in comics is nothing is constant. Any one of the losers could beat the person that beat them if the conditions were right. I interested to here your opinions. Please leave a comment if you agree, disagree, or if you have some different or better match-ups. I'm the Eyeball, and that's what I'd like to see.

School Crooks

By the title, you may think this is a post about schoolyard bullies taking lunch money on a playground. Instead, I am going to rant about the school itself. One of my children attend a local elementary school. When they recently put on a play I was angry to find out all cameras were banned. Why? This is my child, I should be able to photgraph or videotape them if I see fit. To make matters worse, the school is selling pictures and dvds of the play. That's low. I'm sure the school can find a better way to raise money. To not allow a parent to photograph their child in a school play is just un-American. I purchased one of these dvd because I had no other option. What worries me is, what if the guy doing the filming is no good? What if all I can see is the backs of other peoples heads, or his fingers, or something else entirely. Besides, I won't get as much footage of my child that way. Is that selfish? Yes, but it's my child, I'm allowed to be selfish! Schools should not be able to ban parents from bringing cameras to school events. I'm The Eyeball, and that's what I see.

Smile Please

Why is it every time that I visit my local drive-thru resaurant, the person giving me food has the most sour look on their face? These people have obviously never heard of "service with a smile". What do they have to be so grumpy about? They knew when they took the job they would have to deal with the public. Part of this job is being courteous and smiling every once and a while. The next time I'm asked if I want fries with that, I will say"Yes, can I have a smile with that?" I'm The Eyeball and that's what I see.

A-Team

With my first two posts being of a more serious nature, I decided to take a different route this time. Instead of "what I see" I will tell you what I'd like to see. With several movie being made about old t.v. shows, the A-Team would be a good one. It could be modernized to say they "didn't commit" the crime in Iraq, instead of Vietnam. If I could cast anyone for the movie, it would be thses guys:

John "Hannibal" Smith-Mel Gibson

His recent run in with the law not withstanding, this is the only actor that could pull off "Hannibal". His roles in the Lethal Weapon movies show he has the crazy actions to portray Hannibal "on the jazz".

Templton "Faceman" Peck-Matthew McConahey

This actor has the looks and the talent to play the A-Team's con-man Face. Although he is known more for romantic comedies, he has done an action movie or two.

B.A. Barakus-Michael Clarke Duncan

The size, the look, the attitude, and the acting ability need I say more.

"Howling Mad" Murdock-Jim Carrey

He's crazy, that's the only qualification required.

Of course, we would have to have Col. Decker which could be played by Sam Elliot or some other seasoned actor. A villain would also be required but I don't really have any ideas for that person. If you have any ideas, please post a comment. Or, if you think you could cast better actors to play the lead roles post a comment for that to. Or, if you agree post that. Just post. I'm The Eyeball and that's what I'd like to see.

ECW light?

What is with the new ECW? It is so watered down it doesn't remind me at all of the old ECW. "This is you extreme rules match of the night." What is that? Extreme Championship Wrestling means all matches should be Extreme. This is more like Raw 2. And what's with the telent? Rene' Dupree? "The most extreme athlete in ECW"? The most extreme thing he ever did, was to change his hair conditioner. Don't get me wrong, there is alot of talent on that roster: RVD, Sandman, Tommy Dreamer, Big Show, and my personal favorite C. M. Punk. There are others but I can't name them all. Mr. McMahon, if you happen to read this, I beg you please bring back the old ECW. I'm The Eyeball, and that's what I see.

Respect for The Croc Hunter

I was truly upset at the news of Steve Irwin's death. He was a truly great man. What has me ranting is the reaction of people. I'm so sick of people saying "The idiot got what he deserved." Those people just wish they had as much knowledge about animals as he did. True, he did do things that even I thought was crazy, but he had a method to his madness. He was trying to teach the world about animals and conservation. My family and I know more about these animals today because of him. Getting up close and personal with these animals is the only way to teach the world. Do you think you can learn as much on one of those shows where the camera is far away, and there is some guy talking in a low voice in the background as if he is acually there? No! This man was a great teacher, if you can't respect that, at least respect the dead. I'm The Eyeball, and that's what I see.
